Zaha Hadid & MVRDV – “Conscious Inspiration”
At the year 2002 , MVRDV architects office designed a group of towers for the Donau city in Vienna. The project was inspired by critical thinking about skyscrapers.
The result was a three dimensional City.
MVRDV’s towers were called the “Kissing Towers”.
At the same year Zaha Hadid designed two “Kissing Towers” for Ground -zero in New- York City.
Four years later Zaha Hadid designed three towers for Dubai, they were called the “Dancing Towers”.

Hey FRAN
I saw the photo of the building in Paris.
Although I lived in Paris for five years,
I did not know these buildings ….thank you….
I found limited formal identity between the buildings in Paris to “Kissing towers” of MVRDV.
Those buildings in Paris ,are characterized by formal motifs familiar from the 70s.
Architects in those years were influenced by the “Brutalism style” that was identified with
architects like Paul Rudolph.
The architecture of MVRDV and ZAHA HADID
Is in my understanding, the product of original thinking and inquiry….
But It is very possible that you recognize an important principle of “Conscious Inspiration ”
A principle known to every architect….
Existing buildings are a source of inspiration for
talented architects.
The obvious question is how to train architects to be inspired from existing buildings in a way that leads to good architecture?

You’re probably right.
As far as i’m conserned i find the same intention in the dynamics of the buildings lines, the intention of making a buildind that dances, kisses.
The building is to be seen, pictures don’t get this kind of movement.
But indeed they are quiete different.
In general point of view, the arquitecture made by the contemporan radical architectes such as MVRDV, OMA … as a lot to do with the mature modernism. Your blog is a great exemple…
Compare BIG and team ten !
The geometrical research of the brutalism ( modernism ) still stands, it’s materiality (the main purpose of Brutalism) is gone.
Moreover materiality is something you don’t talk much in this blog. Whe can wonder why. Maybe it say a lot about how architectes interprete, are inspired …
Changing the materiality may give them the feeling that they’ are not copying ?

This would go against high quality principle as real hyperlinks in the written content of a common weblog post will be definetely still left with puny authority to cross on even though the hyperlinks in the written content of an unpopular weblog submit may move on much more authority.
