Someone Has Built It Before

The following quote, is from le Corbusier’s  book “Towards an Architecture” ,published in 1923:

Extrusion is the touchstone of architecture

It distinguishes Art from Engineering

Extrusion is free of all constraint

This is not a question of conventions, tradition, construction method or even usefulness

Extrusion is a pure creation of the spirit, it needs a plastic artist

Le Corbusier ,in his book Towards  an Architecture, presents to us the Pantheon‘s coffered dome  ,as an example for an extrusion’s inspiration source

The Pantheon was built during the reign of Augustus in Rome ,Italy

Years after the Pantheon was built

The renowned architect ,Carlo Scarpa, was inspired by the coffered dome of the Pantheon
