Le Corbusier Architect _ ATAMA Building _ Ahmedabad _1951
Here are sketches drawn by Corbusier describing the grid leading climate analysis, he calls it the ” grille climatique”
Sketches were made from 1950 to 1965 for Chandigarh, India .
Original sketches from the FONDATION LE CORBUSIER
The Grid is a graphical means of presentation which permits the enumeration, coordination and analysis of the climatic conditions of a place (defined by its latitude) in order to direct architectural research towards solutions in accord with the human biological makeup. It deals with the rectification and setting in order of the excesses of extreme climates in order to achieve, by means of architectural dispositions, conditions capable of assuring comfort and well-being.
The ATAMA building was not the first green building , nor it is a skyscraper , but maybe it is the source of inspiration for generations of architects….
Birth and development of the modern green skyscraper:

Original sketches that describe the design principles of Mesiniaga Menara ( IBM ) green tower:
Text quoted from Buisiness Week:
The IBM Tower in Kuala Lumpur was the first modern green skyscraper—although its architect, Ken Yeang, prefers to call it a “bioclimactic” building, because of the way its natural ventilation strategies make the building feel as if it were breathing. The design was the first to bring low-energy use to a high-density urban environment, reflecting Yeang’s idea that only the sustainable development of cities can accommodate the world’s population growth. But unlike the sophisticated technical engineering of later green skyscrapers, most of its strategies are passive—such as a spiraling atrium that accommodates “vertical landscaping,” improving indoor air quality and aiding natural ventilation, and external louvers that reduce solar heat gain
