SANAA, Zaha Hadid, Steven Holl and Bjarke Ingels will help us understand how can a sketch be an inspiration-source, for a “design strategy” .

Recently were published in ARCHIDAILY ,two new buildings designed by Steven Holl, the Tianjin Ecocity Ecology and Planning Museums.

One of those buildings is characterized by a unique morphology …. It is called the “Sponge Concept”.

For more information about the “Sponge Concept” you are invited to visit my previous posts:

From Eliinbar’s Sketch book 2012 – Steven Holl’s “Sponge Concept”

Notice the morphological similarity, both buildings are perforated boxes, characterized by morphology of a sponge, designed according to the “Sponge Concept” – strategy.

But the previous story,  is maybe least interesting …. What do you think about this story?

Before the Steven Holl ‘s Tianjin Ecocity Ecology and Planning Museums were built , One can see ,that Steve Holl’s well known sketches are already the source of inspiration for Leading architects.

All of the next buildings are perforated boxes, characterized by morphology of a sponge, designed according to the “Sponge Concept” .

A “short talk” about “Conscious Inspiration”   January 2013

Inspiration” or “Copy Paste” are the most dominant phenomenon of the 21st century among architects.

Most likely , the “availability of information” enables the existence of the phenomenon.

The abundance of information in the Web affects us all…. I present it every week in my blog, accompanied by my explanation sketches.

We saw more than once, differences between “Conscious Inspiration” and “copy paste” are not so big….

With this challenge, the “Conscious inspiration Method” wants to cope .

I believe that the natural development of architecture design is based on inspiration techniques ….I call themCodex Rules”.

I strive to develop a method.

A method that will help architects and designers to cope with this phenomenon, At this point in time, I call it the “Conscious Inspiration Method” ….

With the methodology of “conscious Inspiration”, we don’t need to be intimidated to get inspired from relevant buildings.  Once we develop our tools =“Codex Rules”, it will lead us to high quality creative architecture.

The Conscious Inspiration Method‘ ,  How it Works?

First step: “knowledge”, as many said and wrote before; knowledge is the foundation for all designing process. We architects and designers are obliged to be informed about everything that was designed in the past and on a daily basis.

Second step: develop Conscious Inspiration personal  tools = “Codex Rules”.

Third step: the inspiration Source. (Don’t be intimidated to get inspired from relevant buildings).

Step Fourrealize your design idea (your invention).

Five “HOWS” of the “Conscious Inspiration Method

1. How to filter out relevant knowledge from the Web with abundance of information?

2. How to develop your own vision?

3. How to choose the right “Inspiration Sources” that empowers your vision?

4. How to develop your 0wn personal design tools?

5. How to use your inspiration sources as the “Planning Process Generator”, and to design high quality creative architecture?

  1. hey yo, read the book “Architectural Designing: The Elements of Process” by Andrew Pressman and “Bring Architecture to the Next Level” by Maria Lorena Lehman, you and i can be a team 😀

      1. The Andrew’s Book has not the “shared version” because it’s still very new, you can pay it with just 29.99$ on amazon.com may be. But with the Maria’s book, you just visit her page sensingarchitecture.com and submit you email then you will get her book for free.
These book is about the architectural process, like the best way to find the almost perfect idea, layout, plan, concept…for each project even it’s aesthetic. Almost architect around the world think that the architectural process must be done perceptively, intuitionally…blar..blar..blar…Yes, they was right when they said that but wrong when they don’t accept that the Andrew and Maria’s way is better than theirs. The Architectural process is more logical but that is not mean it is less artistic. Do you agree with me ?
I have 2 of those books yet but i still can’t read it because of my English Vocabulary skill :D, i just understand the main idea of them. And there is some other book and research around this subject too.
