This is an inspiring house….someone invested a lot of money here,

I wander what were Bernardo Rodrigues’s inspiration sources?

Well ….I can indicate two optional morphological inspiration sources….

1.

There is a dominant presence of John Hejduk’s “wall house 2”

Hejduk’s “wall house 2” designed in the 70′

And Zaha Hadid’s “aggressive snake motif” is Without doubt a good option for the second inspiration source

Know look at this casual floor plane.

This is a typical floor plan,of the private house in S. Michael Island , designed by Bernardo Rodrigues.

It looks like a floor plane of an ordinary orthogonal private house.

There are no clues for its unique external morphology….

So what did I learned from this post?

Getting inspired from relevant buildings is a powerful design strategy that helps us architects to upgrade an ordinary floor plan schema, to a well designed and inspiring house.

Bernardo Rodrigues’s design strategy ( implemented in this private house) helps me demonstrate the mechanics of the “conscious inspiration method” ….

The mechanics of the “conscious inspiration method” :

Be inspired consciously  from existing building, will generate a unique design process that serves our creative desires….

“Conscious Inspiration” – to be inspired consciously….

“Conscious Inspiration” the ultimate inspiration methodology:

I invite you all to contribute in developing the attitude and tools towards the viability of the “Conscious Inspiration” Method.

The abundance of information in the Web affects us all, as I illustrate in my posts.

I believe that designing is a process formed from three main phases:knowledgetools and invention.

Knowledge”: as many said, and wrote before – Knowledge is the foundation for all designing process. We architects and designers are obliged to be informed about everything that was designed in the past and on a daily basis….

Tools”: develop tools to analyze buildings and “Understand” them, tools that will cope with the abundance of architectural information…tools that encourage your planning process….tools matching your skills and generating your creative process….

(You are invited to visit earlier posts of mine showing leading architects tools…. )

Invention”: with the methodology of “conscious Inspiration” , we don’t need to be intimidated to get inspired from relevant buildings.

Be inspired consciously  from existing building, will generate a unique design process that serves our creative desires….

Once we develop our tools, it will lead us to high quality and creative architecture.

Zaha Hadid And the morphology of the “aggressive snake motif”2

In a previous post of mine I presented Zaha Hadid’s repetitive morphological structure I like to call the “Aggressive snake motif”.(a floating  structure characterized by a sloping edge) she duplicate it in her designs from time to time, with minor changes….

Here is a typical example of Zaha Hadid’s “Aggressive snake motif”. Notice the “Aggressive snake motif”. A structure floating over the museum entrance

And this is a sketch that shows two more of Zaha Hadid’s “Aggressive snake motif” designs. For more of Zaha Hadid’s relevant buildings, you are invited to visit my previous post

Apparently Zaha Hadid’saggressive snake motifis the inspiration source for other talented architects.

In this post I will show some of them….

Are you curious to know what are Zaha Hadid’s inspiration sources for the “aggressive snake motif”?

Here is a sketch who traces its origins  ….  for you to judge..

from Eliinbar’s Sketch book 2010  Peter Eisenman & Zaha Hadid
