This blog examines the

 inspiration sources

 of contemporary architectural projects

 I put a virtual

 mirror  

 reflecting processes of

conscious and

unconscious inspiration among Architects

and you judge

–

 But my challenge is not over yet

If my

“mirror”

 reflects the reality correctly

Then is needed a change in architecture profession training

–

And I will explane

–

You probably noticed that the differences between

“Conscious Inspiration” and “Copy paste”

are rather vague

And there is a consensus that

 Copy-paste is disastrous for the architectural profession

–

We all know that the basis for all architectural design , is the unique site

 on which the building is built

so how can we copy buildings?

–

For that I strive to develope a responsive training method for architects

I call it the

 Conscious Inspiration Method

The “Conscious Inspiration Method” is  learning to be inspired  consciously  from existing buildings

With the methodology of “conscious Inspiration”, we don’t need to be intimidated to get inspired from relevant buildings.  Once we develop our designing tools =“Codex Rules”, it will lead us to high quality creative architecture

.

I believe that the natural development of architecture design is based on 

inspiration techniques

I call them

Codex Rules

Today post presents for the fifth time, my New “Conscious Inspiration” project…. 100 Conscious projects in 200 days

100projects in 200 days, that we can easily identify their inspiration sources

These projects are published in ARCHDAILY ,the world’s most visited architecture website

The inspiration sources for the 100 projects ,are not nature in full bloom ,or wonderful music,nor exciting prose

Their inspiration sources are existing buildings

You might remember the post-modernism trend in the 80s

Sources of inspiration for this style/trend were classical buildings, Nothing else

 ? What does it indicates about us

It indicates that there is an expanding phenomenon and we can not ignore it

Architects are inspired by existing buildings as a method

 ? So what’s the problem 

The problem is that some of us are experiencing difficulty getting inspired from existing buildings

Sometimes the result of this process, looks more like “Copy-paste” rather than conscious inspiration

 ? So how to get inspired consciously from existing buildings

 

 

 ? The Conscious Inspiration Method ,how it works

First step:  “knowledge”, as many said and wrote before; knowledge is the foundation for all designing process. We architects and designers are obliged to be informed about everything that was designed in the past and on a daily basis

Second step: develop Conscious Inspiration personal tools = Codex Rules

Third step: the Inspiration Source. Don’t be intimidated to get inspired from relevant buildings

Step Four: realize your design idea ,your invention

–

Now that we are familiar with the four steps of the Conscious Inspiration Method, let’s learn how to implement this  method in daily life

–

But first we must define the challenges facing us

Here are the five “HOWS” of the Conscious Inspiration Method

A. How to filter out relevant knowledge from the Web?…. with abundance of information

 ? B. How to develop your own vision

  C.  How to choose the right “Inspiration Sources” ?  that empowers your vision

? D.  How to develop your own personal design tools

 E.  How to use your inspiration sources as the “Planning Process Generator”?  and to design high quality creative architecture

 

In conclusion

I believe that the natural development of architecture design is based on inspiration techniques ….I call them  Codex Rules

With the methodology of “conscious Inspiration”, we don’t need to be intimidated to get inspired from relevant buildings

Get inspired consciously from existing buildings, and you will experience a unique design process that will serve your creative desires

Kurt Cobain  , Nirvana’s  music band songwriter,guitarist and lead singer was proud to share with us his musical influences (Inspiration Sources)…. the Beatles,Pixies,Sonic Youth ,R.E.M ,Led Zeppelin ,Black Sabbath and other well known music Bands.

? So why architects , always claim they get inspired in their dreams

I learned during  my journey in this blog,  that inspiration from existing buildings, is common among architects

 But I also learned something else

A relatively large group of architects lack the “tools” to make the distinction between “copy-paste” and Conscious Inspiration

 In this blog I want ,to clarify the differences between the disturbing phenomenon that is commonly called “copy-paste” , and the positive phenomenon I encourage …. Conscious Inspiration

In my next posts, I intend to suggest Inspiration techniques, that will help young architects to get inspired from existing buildings….in a CONSCIOUS way

You probably noticed the morphological resemblance betwwen Frank Gehry’s twisted building in Hanover Germany and Santiago Calatrava’s HSB Turning Torso in Malmo

Curious coincidence, the two projects were designed and built during the same years…. One may assume that this is another typical example of Conscious inspiration

?what did I learn from this post

 Santiago Calatrava’s inspiration source for the HSB Turning Torso in Malmo was Halliday Avray-Wilson’s ,Twisting Male  Torso Sculpture….This Is a typical example of an “inspiration source” that is not an existing building

 And Frank Gehry’s inspiration source for the twisted building in Hanover Germany, is a typical example of an “inspiration source” that is an existing building

 So we can distinguish between two types of Inspiration Sources

Inspiration from the “Outside world of architecture” ,like  in the case of  Santiago  Calatrava’s HSB Turning Torso

and Inspiration from the “Inside world of architecture” ,  like  in the case of Frank Gehry’s twisted building in Hanover Germany

 So obvious ….. but  not…. I’ll check it in future posts
