Thank you all

Following the previous posts  about Bjarke Ingels Group – BIG,  I will show In this post, several design strategies, inspired by Rem Koolhaas.

 The architectural firm OMA.
was established in 1975 by Rem Koolhaas and  partners.

Today OMA is  considered one of the world’s most innovative architect firms..

Some of its former employees/partners  have become the world’s leading architectural firms working today. (Zaha Hadid , MVRDV,  REX ,  BIG, FREE)

I will Start with the design strategy I like to call  the“stacking Diagram” ,developed by Rem Koolhaas  in the 90th , and became the inspiration source  for his former employees /partners  ….

More design strategies , will be detailed in my future posts ….See the sketch above….

The “stacking Diagram” , design Strategy:

Note the similarity in the design process,in four projects

See my sketch below….explaining the “Stacking Diagram” design Strategy

First step, definition of size and shape of the spaces in accordance with the program.

Second step, designing the building  as a “stacking Diagram”  emphasizing the program.

REX  architects office with Joshua Prince-Ramus as princial ,is one of the leading architects offices in recent years.

Here  are four projects designed by REX ,in the years Rem Koolhaas was still a partner And after….  and their inspiration sources..

For you to judge….

3. Typological Inspiration

REX architects _ Museum Plaza _ Louisville _ Kentuky _ USA

MVRDV Architects _ Mirador _ Sanchinarro _ Spain

From eliinbar’s sketchbook 2010  -Typological Inspiration

4.  Formal Inspiration

Le Corbusier

 Le palais du Gouverneur

 REX Architects

Vakko Fashion Center

And Power Media Center

From eliinbar’s sketchbook 2010 – Formal Inspiration

Two quotations from the REXs’ site, describing the firm’s Approach :

1. Architects have retreated from the accountability (and productivity) of Master Builders to the safety (and impotence) of stylists.

2. The media sells simple, catchy ideas; it reduces teams to individuals and their collaborative work to genius sketches. The proliferation of this false notion of “starchitecture” diminishes the real teamwork that drives celebrated architecture.

Very exciting …. REX Describe two of the reasons why I suggest to implement “Conscious Inspiration”….

Availability of the “ architecture  information” probably affects the planning processes and thinking of the modern architecture  Office. I hope the planning process that I like to call “Conscious Inspiration” Will give architects the tools to cope with the abundance of information, and  Create quality and creative architecture….
