Frank Gehry & Steve Jobs, Do they have something in common?

Posted in buildings, public buildings with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on December 11, 2011 by eliinbar

Recently I read the Inspiring book by Walter Isaacson “Steve Jobs”.
I came across a Steve Jobs quoteEventually you should try to expose yourself to the best things
that people did
, then try to implement these things out of what you do I mean the saying of Picasso
Good artists copy, great artists stealAnd we never were ashamed to steal great ideas”

Here is a short clip …. Steve Jobs talks about getting great ideas: http://www.google.co.il/url?url=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DCW0DUg63lqU&rct=j&sa=X&ei=CdTjTp_MEIXBhAe-vu3tAQ&ved=0CC0QuAIwAg&q=Picasso+%22Good+artists+copy,+great+artists+steal%22+&usg=AFQjCNFqCuySalwWusri05Kt0G6GQB0o4w

It is quite a while that I trace the inspiration sources of Frank Gehry….

Here is a short clip where Frank Gehry talks about his inspiration sources: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Hh1QYWVdQV0

Particularly I was interested in identifying the sources of his inspiration for His unique morphology, defined in projects like the “Dancing House”  In Prague or The Guggenheim museum in Bilbao – Spain  (See the following images).

the “Dancing House”

The Guggenheim museum in Bilbao Spain 1991-1997

is one of Gehry’s most known buildings.

What did I learn from this post?

Frank Gehry and Steve Jobs admire Knowledge

They believe that you can find Inspiration sources anywhere.

You don’t need to be intimidated to get inspired from anything that can promote you ….

You are committed to develop the tools and skills to understand and use your Inspiration sources in a beneficial way for you ….

Possibly the “Conscious Inspiration method” should assimilate a similar approach….

The Conscious Inspiration Methode:

I believe that designing is a process formed from three main phases:  knowledge, tools and invention.

“Knowledge”:  as many said, and wrote before – Knowledge is the foundation for all designing process. We architects and designers are obliged to be informed about everything that was designed in the past and on a daily basis….

“Tools”= (“Codex rules”) develop tools to analyze buildings and “Understand” them,  tools that will cope with the abundance of architectural information…

(I intend to demonstrate some of my ideas in future posts)

“Invention”:  with the methodology of “conscious Inspiration” , we don’t need to be intimidated to get inspired from relevant buildings.  Once we develop our tools, it will lead us to high quality and creative architecture.

What is Zaha Hadid’s ultimate “Inspirational Building”.?

Posted in public buildings with tags , , , , , , , , on October 20, 2011 by eliinbar

Zaha Hadid architecture is characterized by new design techniques (Tools)….

Here is a quote from Zaha Hadid’s Office (Patrik Schumacher)

“Digital techniques have become an essential ingredients of the project development.

The analog techniques employed – like interpenetration, isometric and perspectival distortion, dynamic bending and warping – anticipate the possibilities currently offered by advanced animation software.  Intermediate techniques like distortion and “smearing” using the xerox machine established a fertile ground for the quick assimilation of the new digital tools in the process of form finding” “a new architectural language and conception of space was developed

What did I learn from this quote?

Zaha Hadid uses Advanced and contemporary  sculptural techniques, when designing her buildings.

In the same matter, you are invited to see my relevant post about the “Conscious Inspiration Method

As I often show in my blog, Great Architects are inspired by a building from the past – I call does buildings “Inspirational Buildings“….

It’s a while that I am in  pursuit after Zaha Hadid’s ultimate” inspirational  Building

I want to raise a reasonable possibility that Eero Saarinen’s TWA Flight Center

Is Zaha Hadid’s ultimate “Inspirational Building

The Conscious Inspiration Methode;

In pursuit after Zaha Hadid’s inspiration Sources 1

Posted in buildings, public buildings with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 29, 2011 by eliinbar

From eliinbar’s Sketchbook 2011,Zaha Hadid’s Inspiration Sources

In this post I present Eero Saarinen’s TWA Flight Center at John F. Kennedy International Airport and Zaha Hadid;s Aquatics Centre roof for the 2012 Olympic site in London

In my future posts I will continue my  journey uncovering Zaha Hadid’s Inspiration Sources

She is today the most widely publicized and influential architect by Google test.

It’s not the formal similarity, why I pose the two projects, And I don’t have the intention to insinuate that Zaha Hadid copied from another.

My goal is to encourage the developing of a “Toolbox” for a new architectural planning process that I call  Conscious Inspiration.
