Are architects inspired from the fashion world? The mutual relations between architecture and fashion

I do not often present to you the inspirational relationship between different design areas (Fashion,Jewelry,Product Design,Design cars, architecture etc.).

But it is familiar to all who is engaged in design….

This is my second post that examines the complex inspirational relations between architecture and fashion….architecture inspired from fashion and fashion from architecture.

  1. hi, my name is lailomah and a student of architecture. i am doing my thesis on the relation between architecture and fashion. i have come across many articles about fashion and architecture while searching for my own thesis work, and that’s how i found your blog about the comparison between fashion and architecture. Ive seen many different works of different fashion fashion designers from buildings but till now i haven’t been able to find an architect’s work inspired from the designs and the examples you have given above look pretty much relevant. i want to know more about the inspiration of architecture through fashion design and i guess it will be great if i get some information about that.

  2. i went through the article about the inspirational designs by Zaha Hadid and Grimshaw, and the examples along with the sketches were really good. i mean it has been really helpful, thanks alot. i needed these kind of examples to make my project more relevant. Also i joined your page on facebook which is about the ‘conscious inspiration designs’ and it was a great help too, especially the sketches. i need to discuss my design and the project and i guess it will be great if i discuss my work with you, is it possible if i stay connected through this site or mail you? i’ll be really grateful. Your articles have been a great help. all of them and i think it’s really a nice effort discussing all zones and connections of architecture with other fields and how you’ve brought them together through examples.

    I am an architecture student, I plan to do my dissertation on Fashion and Architecture. I am looking for anything relevant that could help me. This article was one of those things! I need to be able to convince my jury members that my topic has scope. Any sort of help would be great 🙂

  4. Hi Eli,

    I have read both your articles exploring the relationship between fashion and architecture and both were helpful so i would like to firstly say thank you.
    I am a fashion student writing my dissertation on this same relationship and raising a dispute to as whether these are combined industries, where the line between fashion and architecture has become blurred or if they are very different fields of expertise, that coincidently have similar priciples.
    May i ask you for your personal and professional opinion as to whether you agree or disagree with the argument i am raising?

      I occasionally check the relations between the various design professions.
      My impression is that there is a mutual influence between them.
      Not only between architecture and fashion….
